Location anyone?

Perhaps the main part of my video is the band scene for the first chorus, one thing i wanted to stay away from was a dark, fancy, clean, studio looking room that would ruin the rough, amature underground image i am going for.

so I have been looking at a couple of locations for the main band scene, the first location i looked at was a ally way that 30 seconds down the road from me. the ally has a tunnel thanks to the railway bridge, its rough and i mean really rough with graffiti and the poor condition of the whole ally. however thinking about the practicality of it, it looks too hard to pull off with trying to get the equipment to the location as well as hoping to not be disturbed by bypassing youths.

the second location is at my back garden. OK its not as lame as you would think because i have a small woodland area right at the back of my garden as well as as a fire bin the idea I had here is to have the band performing in front of an fire amongst all the trees. It will be filmed in the dark so I'm hoping to get some nice shots of the band in a really unique light.

I am probably going to go ahead and film the band performance scene in the back garden, but other locations include a pub, an office, bus stop and a long road.

Music video directors!

Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris husband and wife are together one of the greats when it comes down to directing a music video.

directing videos for artist such as R.E.M, The Ramones, Britney Spears, Red Hot Chillie Peppers, Janet Jackson, The offspring, Korn and Oasis.

Red hot chillie peppers have had many videos directed by the married couple Dayton and Faris including the zephyr song, by the way, californiacation and road trippin. perhaps my favourite out of those is the video for califoniacation where the video is based on a video game, the band where put through different levels on the game and was something completely different for the industry.

One video that stands out for me in dayton and faris resumes is the video for The smashing pumpkins tonight, tonight.

but for me their the 2000 mtv best short form music video for korns freak on a leash.

BAND CASE STUDY

In Manchester, 1991 a band was formed, They were called The Rain and if u asked most of the british public who they were, they would probably tell you they've never heard of them. But if I was to say the iconic name of the lead vocalist, you will know who they became.

Liam Gallagher formed The Rain with Paul Arthurs, Paul McGuian and Tony McCarroll. However everything changed when Liams older brother Noel Gallagher joining when the band changed their name to Oasis.

Oasis were signed to independent record label Creation Records, releasing their record-setting debut album Definitely Maybe in 1994.

1995 saw a new side of oasis with public rivalry with Blur as well as public feuds between the two brothers.

1997 witnessed the release of oasis third album which became the fastest selling uk album of all time, however lost band members Paul McGuigan and Paul Arthurs.

2000 came the album Standing on the Shoulder of Giants.

2002 Heathen Chemistry was the next album released being the last album with the contribution of long time drummer Alan White.

2005 saw dont believe the truth, the 6th studio album.

2008 saw the last studio album of oasis dig out your soul, nothing special was to come from this album which came to great dissapointment as 2009 came shock.

2009 saw the end of oasis as noel claimed enough was enough and tells how he can never work with his brother again.

What became of the likley lads

Wednesday 7 October 2009

Please don't get me wrong
See I forgive you in a song
Will call the Likely Lads
But if it's left to you
I know exactly what you'd do
With all the dreams we had
Just blood runs thicker, oh
We're as thick as thieves, you know
If that's important to you
It's important to me
I tried to make you see
But you don't wanna know
You don't want to know!

If you pipe all summer long
Then get forgiven in a song
Well that's a touch, my lad
They sold the rights to all the wrongs
And when they knew you'd give me songs
Welcome back, I said
The blood runs thicker, oh
We're as thick as thieves, you know
If that's important to you
It's important to me
I tried to make you see
But you don't wanna know
You don't want to know!

Oh what became of the Likely Lads?
What became of the dreams we had?
Oh what became of forever?
Oh what became of forever?
Though, we'll never know

Please don't get me wrong
See I forgive you in a song
Will call the Likely Lads
We all bought the ones
We taught 'em all
we wrote the songs
That's filled with dreams we have
But blood runs thicker, oh
We're as thick as thieves, you know
If that's important to you
It's important to me
I tried to make you see
But you don't wanna know
You don't want to know!

Oh what became of the Likely Lads?
What became of the dreams we had?
Oh what became of forever?
Oh what became of forever?
We'll never know!

HERE I GO AGAIN ON MY OWN!!!

Here it is A2 of the media studies course and its time for me to show my musical side...
we are required to shoot our own music video to an exsiting song posed as a new band/artist with us having the freedom to shoot it however we want be it animation or straight footage, the tough part for me will probably trying to choose the song.

we also need to create a CD/DVD cover for the the fictional band, as well as write up a magazine advert for the bands new track.

well i have already put some of the songs im considering below, to give myself a rough idea in what i might go for.

This is Take Thats video to their hit song back for good, and the reason why i chose this video is because its a typicle example of a boy band video. The mono tone, rain, vintage cars, fir coats and the fact that it is filmed in an air field shows how over the top the directors like to be with buy bands. The main thing about this video is the typicle cheesey dance by all members of the group.

One of my favourite videos of all time exploring the manga animation to make an agressive looking video, i thought it what make this video so good is how well the cuts go with the song it self.

To be honest i put this video on because its just soo much fun to watch.
